Ok – I know this is going to upset the masses. I know what I am about to suggest is not politically correct. I recognize people will notify me of my insensitivity to write this blog within 24hrs of Michael Jackson's Funeral. But I need to make one single point. Michael Jackson, a 50 yr old man, father to 3 beautiful children and an Icon too many (I loved his music), is responsible for his own actions.
Why? Why do we always have to look for a scapegoat when an episode or event in our lives does not go as we had planned, expected, desired or wished? Much of the Media Buzz and internet Twittering makes reference to his doctor(s) and the type(s) of drugs he may have obtained. Suddenly there is a cry echoing throughout the world “get the doctor – he caused the death of our beloved entertainer". The point I am making, Michael was responsible to Michael, his children and his fans. No one has reported an individual forcing MJ to ingest highly powerful drugs, narcotics or prescription sleep aids. However, there have been several reports of Michael requesting drugs and requesting medical assistance for the purpose of inducing extreme narcotics into his system. Clearly the forethought on the part of Michael Jackson to request medical assistance in obtaining and executing these methods tells me; 1.) He knew the drugs were life threatening and 2.) He was actively facilitating relationships to obtain the drugs. The requests by Michael Jackson of medical professionals and his subsequent actions remain the choice of Michael Jackson. We his fans, along with his family and children have all lost. But the lost is most dramatically endured by his children. MJ’s death was generated by Michael Jackson’s decision to exercise his influence of popularity and wealth towards those who would give him what he desired. Not the other way around. I am sorry for all who are impacted and I will miss him too.
